Ingredients

  • 300 g block of silken tofu

  • 2 tbsp rice bran oil or sunflower or canola oil

  • 4 spring onions thinly sliced

  • 1 tsp light soy sauce

  • 1 tsp dark soy sauce optional

  • pinch sugar

    Instructions

    • Remove the tofu from the packet carefully - so as not to break the block. The best way I have found is to tip the packet onto a plate covered with a paper towel. Cover the block with another paper towel and place a plate on top to press out some of the excess liquid for approximately 5 minutes.

    • Whilst the tofu is getting lightly pressed, heat the oil in a small frying pan over low-medium heat. Add the spring onion and cook slowly for around 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the onion is starting to brown. Add the garlic and cook until just golden. Remove from the heat and stir through the soy sauces and sugar.

    • Pour the sauce over the tofu and you are done! No need to heat tofu, but if you prefer you can slightly warm it by steaming or putting in the microwave for about 1 minute.
